Privacy Policy

OpenPets is built to be simple and local-first after installation. This page explains what the website and OpenPets tools are intended to collect, store, and avoid.

Last updated: May 7, 2026

Website data

The OpenPets website does not require an account. Like most websites, hosting providers may process standard request information such as IP address, browser, device, referring page, and timestamps for security, debugging, and delivery.

Desktop app and pet files

Once installed, OpenPets desktop pets and pet packs are local desktop assets. The app is intended to run on your machine and manage your local OpenPets setup. Download the app only from the official GitHub Releases page.

CLI and MCP

The CLI installer is used to add pet packs. The MCP server is optional and only used when you configure an AI assistant to run it. Recommended assistant rules tell agents not to send code, logs, file paths, URLs, secrets, tokens, or private data to pet messages.

Third-party services

OpenPets links to or depends on third-party services such as hosting, CDN/font providers, GitHub, npm/Bun package tools, downloads, and AI assistant products. Their own privacy policies apply when you use those services.

Questions or removal requests

For rights owner requests, pet removal requests, corrections, or sensitive privacy concerns, email admin@openpets.dev. For non-sensitive bugs, use GitHub issues. Do not include secrets, private data, tokens, or vulnerability details in public issues.
